Job Description

We have a terrific position for you if you appreciate being out on the open road and being in control of your own career. We are searching for a CDL Commercial, Residential and Roll Off drivers to assist us in Servicing our customers in a safe, effective, and timely manner.

Job Description

The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for investigating problems with different types of motor vehicles and making repairs accordingly. Their duties include communicating with the shop manager to discuss their concerns, carrying out routine maintenance procedures on motor vehicles and replacing parts on motor vehicles to promote their functionality.

Responsibilities
  • Repairs and maintains all fleet equipment to include complete engine rebuilds of complex multi system diesel engines.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs, hydraulic systems, and computerized engine control systems; hydraulic and air brake systems; electrical and lighting systems.
  • Completes detailed work order completion forms.
  • Provides emergency roadside service and repair outside garage.
  • Performs basic and advanced steel fabrication and modification of various brackets.
  • Interacts with the public in an effective and courteous manner. Must be able to meet minimum attendance standards.
  • Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong organization skills and ability to work in high-volume, fast paced environment.
  • Time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Ability to be self-motivated to thoughtfully create resolutions for non-standard issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, customers and vendors.
Minimum Requirements
  • Years of Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in a maintenance shop.
  • Education: High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Although a mechanics license is not required, must have the ability to become licensed within 30 days should it become a state requirement.
  • Two (2) years’ experience as a mechanic. Previous work with heavy-duty trucks is desirable.

Floor Jacks, Hydraulic jacks, Transmission Jacks, Power tools, Forklift, Crimping machines, Engine Cranes, RTA software, Plasma Torches, Welding

Environmental Conditions

The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress that require a range of safety and other precautions where conditions cannot be controlled and/or is exposed to one or more disagreeable conditions such as outdoor weather conditions, excessive noise, vibration, extreme temperatures, odors, dust, oils, fumes, lubricants, chemicals, close quarters, etc. more than 50% of the work time.

Typical Physical Demands

Moderate walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, reaching; heavy lifting and carrying; working outside and inside; exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes; working around moving objects and machinery with moving parts.
