Roll-Offs

By law, 5280 Waste Solutions is required to tarp each load for transport, so all waste materials must fit inside your roll-off dumpster. Nothing may overflow the top of the container. All materials that exceed the top of your container must be removed.

Your roll-off dumpster can be placed in any spot on your property or building site that’s convenient for your purposes and doesn’t pose a safety hazard.
For residential homes, driveways, and yards are the most common areas for dumpster placement. For construction sites, any clear spot within property boundaries may work. If you wish to put the dumpster on a city or county street, you’ll most likely have to obtain a permit from the appropriate agencies.
Generally speaking, roll-off dumpsters are best situated on flat and hard surfaces. You should avoid putting a dumpster on sloped grounds, soft grounds, or too close to a neighboring property’s boundary line. You assume the risk for potential damage to whatever surface you ask us to place the container on (concrete in particular has the potential to be damaged by heavy containers and trucks).
The size of the roll-off dumpster you need depends on the scope of your project and the space you have available for placement of the unit. 5280’s sizing guide is a helpful way to determine which size you need.
If you’re not sure what size dumpster, you’ll need, don’t hesitate to contact our team for assistance! With that said, here’s a very rough guideline for the proper use of our various sizes of roll-off dumpsters:
10-yard: Recently vacated apartments or small houses, small room clean-ups, room remodeling, or individual roof shingle replacement
12-yard: Remodeling and cleanup of mid-sized residential properties
20-yard: Cleanup and remodeling of larger homes, and cleanup of moderate construction and industrial projects
30-yard: Industrial waste collection and multi-property residential projects
40-yard: Major commercial construction and demolition cleanups
5280 Waste Solutions offers a variety of service packages ranging from 3 to 10 days, with each being priced differently (there is an extra charge for 10+ days, so if you need extra time, be sure to let us know). After confirmation, we’ll deliver your roll-off dumpster to the address you’ve specified.
When you’re finished with your project, call us to arrange for pickup. Make sure the load in the dumpster is level and even with the top of the bin. Verify that our truck has clear and unblocked access to the dumpster with no obstructions or objects in its path.

If you want to place a roll-off dumpster on a public street or road, you’ll most likely need to have us get a permit for you beforehand, depending on local city and county regulations. Placement on publicly owned property must be in full compliance with local regulations.
No permit is required if you plan to use a roll-off dumpster entirely on your property or within the bounds of your construction site. If we secure a permit for you, an additional charge will be added to your invoice to cover permit fees.
No. Roll-off dumpsters can only be moved by specially designed vehicles and equipment. Attempting to move a dumpster to another spot could result in damage to the dumpster and may cause severe physical injury. If you need to move the dumpster after it’s been delivered, call us for assistance.
You do not. However, for roll-off dumpster delivery, make sure our consultants are fully aware of where you want the dumpster to be placed. 5280 consultants will always ask you where you want the dumpster to be placed when you place your order, so as long as placement instructions are clearly communicated, you do not need to be present.
Likewise, you don’t need to be around when we come by to retrieve the dumpster after you’re through with it. Just make sure our truck has, unimpeded access so we can easily pick up your roll-off.
Fuel Recovery Charges
Fuel recovery charge rates and methodology are subject to change.
Diesel fuel is one of the largest costs of running our collection trucks, and its price can change sharply from week to week. We use a separate fuel recovery charge instead of building those swings into your base rate. That way your service rate stays stable, and this charge goes up or down only as fuel prices actually change. It is not our goal to use this to profit, it is simply to cover rising variable costs outside of our control.
The index. The charge is tied to a public, independent benchmark: the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) weekly on-highway diesel price for the Rocky Mountain region (PADD 4), which includes Colorado. The EIA publishes this price every week at eia.gov.
Which week we use. For each billing cycle, we use the most recent weekly EIA price published before the invoice date. We round that price to the nearest cent and match it to the rate table below.
The baseline. At a diesel price of $4.99 per gallon, the charge is 5.00%. That was the average Rocky Mountain diesel price in June 2026, when the charge began.
When fuel rises. For every $1.00 per gallon that diesel rises above the baseline, the charge goes up by 8 percentage points.
When fuel falls. For every $1.00 per gallon that diesel falls below the baseline, the charge goes down by 4 percentage points. Because the charge eases down more gradually than it rises, it stays steadier when fuel prices bounce around.
No charge at lower fuel prices. When the weekly EIA price is below $3.75 per gallon, there is no fuel recovery charge.

The fuel recovery charge shows up as a surcharge line item on your invoice, calculated as a percentage of your service charges. Every customer’s invoice uses the rate in effect on its invoice date, whether you’re billed in advance or in arrears.
